Belvedere involved detailed discussions with the Planning Authority and English Heritage due to its proximity to the Town Hall and its location within the Upper King Street Conservation area. The building façade steps at different levels to address the height of the adjacent buildings and the views to and from the Town Hall and St Peter’s Square. This created a series of terraces at the upper levels, which are accessible from the office space for entertaining, offering views over St Peter’s Square. The main reception is a double height space, with red glass panels adorning the lift core walls, and a freestanding 5m high illuminated glass wall behind the reception desk. The entrance area also integrates security turnstiles to monitor access to and from the building. The façade is a combination of natural stone, pre-cast concrete cladding and glass, creating deep reveals and defining the various elements of the building.
