The new school is 3 storey tall and takes a linear form on an east to west axis. This allows all the teaching spaces to face south, taking advantage of the panoramic picturesque views over Tinto Hills.
The linear form wraps around a roof terrace on the second floor of this building. It becomes an integral part of the design, linking the main senior 'breakout' space and the dining room to the outside.
At completion, Biggar Primary was the only school within the whole of South Lanarkshire Council's 129 primaries that had an outdoor teaching roof terrace.
