The new building picks up on the South Hams vernacular to provide timber clad barn structures that connect into the existing site to provide a clear and rational site layout. These interlinked school buildings deliver an ‘all-through’ educational environment for children from the ages of 2 – 19 years.
The building arrangement provides distinct and separate areas for early years facility, primary school year's and secondary students that remain inter-connected through large open plan teaching barns that offer interface, breakout and related areas between all age groups.
New car parking is provided as the main entrance is reconfigured to provide a clear, coherent and safe access routes together with the existing uses across the site. The site was rearranged to provide safe access routes into the school whilst providing controlled external space for students at the rear.
