GLOVERS HOUSE

  • SEA CHANGE SUSSEX HAS BEEN WORKING WITH THE COUNTY AND DISTRICT COUNCILS TO PROVIDE NEW BUSINESS GROWTH THROUGHOUT THE REGION AND THIS HAS ENABLED THE CREATION OF BEXHILL ENTERPRISE PARK.

  • AHR has masterplanned the wider park and this scheme comprises Phase 1 of the development, providing flexible accommodation over three floors in simple blocks either side of a central shared circulation atrium space. The building benefits from natural ventilation throughout. Manual and automatic opening windows work in conjunction with fan assisted wind chimneys to the rear of each space to control overheating and CO2 levels.

  • Breakout areas are spread throughout the central shared space to encourage interaction between colleagues and ensure a vibrant space with shared refreshment areas at each end.

Externally, the building is intended to be robust and cost effective, whilst seeking to reflect the local vernacular shiplap clad agricultural building style with a masonry plinth below. Legibility is reinforced in the way each building functional element is expressed as an individual solid block; office spaces; cores, and escape staircases. This sets up a simple limited palette of materials – stained timber cladding; a brickwork plinth and standing seam cladding to cores. External escape staircases are sheltered by mitred louvre screens.
