BA (Hons) DipLA CMLI
Martin is a Landscape Architect with over 25 years’ experience and has been with AHR since 2002. He is responsible for leading the landscape team on a wide variety of project types and sectors working with other AHR offices nationwide and with his own standalone clients.
These project types have ranged in scale from community-led projects, through environmental improvements to landscape masterplanning and large scale works associated with multi-million pound education, commercial and transport developments. A key skill of Martin’s is his proactive role during the early site planning process of building design in order to champion the role of external spaces as a critical part of successful design and place making.
As well as work in the UK, Martin has also worked on international projects in Northern Europe and the Middle East. Wherever the project the common themes are constantly people and context, whether within an urban or rural environment. He has also undertaken Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments for education, housing, maritime, road and industrial schemes and acted as an expert landscape witness at public local inquiry.
His experience and knowledge of large and small scale projects from feasibility to implementation is therefore diverse and he appreciates how co-operation and communication between client, stakeholders, consultants and contractors is a recipe for success.
He is a registered member of the Landscape Institute and is a Regional Director with AHR in Glasgow.
