AHR WAS COMMISSIONED BY NETWORK RAIL IN 2014 TO DESIGN AND REFURBISH ITS NEW GLASGOW HEAD OFFICE AT 151-155 ST VINCENT STREET, ALLOWING THE RELOCATION OF STAFF FROM ITS EXISTING PREMISES AT BUCHANAN HOUSE.
The internal fit out, spread across 6 floors of an 8 storey 1980’s city centre office block, provides Network Rail with approximately 3960m of high spec office accommodation.
Large open plan offices, with associated staff meeting rooms and break out spaces have all been designed to allow for a high degree of flexibility.
Working in collaboration with Network Rail’s supply chain, Vitra, Clinic and Interface, with close reference to Network Rail’s own DNA document, AHR have successfully driven a design which reinforces sustainable aspirations, while incorporating a strong design concept. ‘Earth Strata’, travelling from earth, through meadows, to ‘Sky’, not only allows for the design to evolve and change as you progress through the building but increases user orientation. The incorporation of a deli bar and meeting room suite on level 6, for the use of Network Rail’s clients and staff, creates a tranquil and relaxing breakaway from office floor plates.
