PENNINE CARE LOW SECURE UNIT

  • THIS NEW-BUILD LOW SECURE UNIT FOR PENNINE CARE NHS FOUNDATION TRUST IS ON A SITE WITHIN THE GROUNDS OF THE EXISTING BIRCH HILL HOSPITAL THAT ALREADY SPECIALISES IN MENTAL HEALTH CARE.
  • The project provides 45 beds in three units covering Engagement & Assessment, Recovery & Intervention and Social Inclusion. Due to tight site constraints of an existing road, hospital buildings and adjacent residential properties, the building is designed around a series of three courtyards. All three units have access to secure external space, providing privacy and dignity to service users, whilst bedrooms open up to the views surrounding the hospital site.
