The highpoint of the design was a series of central courtyards, open to the sky, but viewed and accessed from the main access corridor. These courtyards range from an entrance courtyard with a contemplative water feature, followed by a practical space for technical projects and a sensory garden. The central space offers two opposing amphitheatres for outdoor teaching and lead on to two quiet courtyards with seating areas for outdoor teaching.
AHR’s Landscape team used discussions with staff and pupils to ensure that there was input from those who were to inherit and use the scheme. The project also required the provision of all-weather and winter grass pitches all fully drained and in accordance with Sport Scotland Guidelines.
