AHR BUILDING CONSULTANCY WORKED CLOSELY WITH SHELLEY COLLEGE TO PREPARE A BID FOR FINANCE UNDER THE ACADEMIES CAPITAL MAINTENANCE FUND. THE BID WAS SUCCESSFUL AND AHR BUILDING CONSULTANCY WAS RETAINED BY SHELLEY COLLEGE IN THE DESIGN AND CONTRACT MANAGEMENT AND THE HEALTH AND SAFETY ASPECTS OF THE PROJECT.
The existing building was re-modelled and refurbished to create a large dining room, new pastoral suite and learning resource centre. The school kitchen also was refurbished as part of the project. In addition, linked to the existing building, a new 400m² extension was built to create an assembly hall which was large enough for each year group.
AHR provided a range of services for Shelley College including Design and Contract Management, CDM Coordinator services and Building Information Model (BIM).
A key benefit on this project of using BIM, as well as using iPads to display the visual 3D Digital images, was greatly enhanced understanding and stakeholder collaboration. This resulted in the best design being successfully delivered on time and within budget, meeting client expectations in all respects.
There was a key requirement for the school and kitchen facilities to remain fully operational whilst the works were undertaken which was achieved successfully with minimal disruption.
