TEMPLE BACK
FIRE STATION

  • TEMPLE BACK FIRE STATION IS PART OF A WIDER ACCOMMODATION RATIONALISATION PROGRAMME FOR AVON FIRE & RESCUE SERVICE. AHR HAS COLLABORATED WITH THE SERIVCE REPLACING SEVERAL STATIONS ACROSS THE REGION.

  • The new five bay fire station provides a strong frontage on the corner of Water Lane and Temple Back. A key aim in the design was to reignite the rich historic narrative of the site through its form, rhythm of the façades and material choices. This was achieved through using interesting patterns in the brick work to add interest and a craft element in the design that would have been present on pre-war façades.

  • The completed building provides 2,000m2 of floor space comprising of offices, training rooms, gym, kitchen, appliance bays, amenity areas, and other ancillary facilities, of which, some will be used 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.

The new fire station was designed to minimise energy consumption in use. This is achieved via an established energy hierarchy approach to the building and is designed to minimise emissions associated with operational energy consumption.
