THIS BUILDING, LOCATED AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE NEW SCIENCE PARK IN BRISTOL, PROVIDES A SOCIAL HUB FOR THE REST OF THE SITE. THE CENTRE COMPRISES OF 2 WINGS OF ACCOMMODATION, WITH ONE PROVIDING SMALLER UNITS FOR START-UP BUSINESSES AND THE OTHER, THE EXPANSION CENTRE TO BE LET AS EITHER A WHOLE BUILDING OR SPLIT INTO LARGER SIZED UNITS.
Accommodation is housed within two storey, post tensioned concrete frame structures, clad with a combination of timber and metal.
The Forum has a 14 metre high atrium with striking curtain walling. Building services are specified to meet a broad range of potential requirements from conventional office space to laboratories. As well as providing a striking initial focal point, the development sets high environmental standards.
The centre is BREEAM Excellent, EPC A and DEC A and incorporates a biomass energy installation and also includes photovoltaic panels and solar water heating - waste heat is recovered from both ventilation and the boiler flues.
The architecture is complimented by the high quality landscape design and materials palette that is inspired by agricultural typologies. Featuring a courtyard entrance, it provides external social and networking spaces which subtly connect into the landscape beyond the site boundaries.
