CIF results announced – What are your options?
The DfE has recently announced the outcomes of the 2020/21 round of Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) funding – if your academy applied, you will have just been informed if you were successful!
This will be good news for some, but with limited funding available, not all.
We are delighted that many of the academies whose bids we helped create have been awarded funding and we are looking forward to working on their projects within government guidelines - as we’re already doing with many academies during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Each year the fund is oversubscribed. Many will be disappointed by the results and some will be considering an appeal. However, appeals can only be made if the applicant can demonstrate that the DfE has made an error in their assessment – new information won’t be considered.
However, if your bid was unsuccessful, this doesn’t mean your project is ineligible for future bidding rounds. Instead, you may require a more considered and extensive bid, with stronger supporting material.
You now have time to prepare for next year’s funding application process. To ensure your next bid is supported by strong evidence, a strategic condition survey of your school buildings or a carefully considered school development plan should be considered. This will provide more robust data for next year’s submission, including real-world figures and accurate costings, which will maximise your chance of success!
We are already looking toward the 2021/22 CIF bidding round and welcome the opportunity to help you kickstart your approach and secure funding next year.
