OUR DESIGN OF THE SPINE AND THE ROYAL COLLEGE OF PHYSICIANS (RCP) FIT OUT HAS AN INTEGRATED APPROACH TO INTERIOR DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURE. WORKING TOGETHER WE HAVE CREATED AN ENVIRONMENT WHERE WELLNESS IN MIND AND BODY HAS BEEN PRIORITISED THROUGHOUT ALL FACILITIES.
The Spine has been designed according to the scientific and medical research principles established in the international WELL Standard to achieve WELL Platinum. It is on track to be one of the healthiest workplaces for mental health and physical wellbeing in the world.
Our interior design team has applied these elements as well as biophilic design principles, emphasising strong connections to nature throughout the building. Other considerations include the building’s ventilation system, which delivers greater levels of fresh air than typical commercial systems, with additional filtration to maintain high air quality levels throughout.
Three double height spaces on the ground, 10th and 12th floors - 'vertical villages' - integrate green space, with planters containing high-oxygen-producing plants to improve the internal environment.
Access to natural light is prioritised, with the location of workstations close to glazing for both light and views to connect staff with the outdoors. The height of the office spaces in the building also ensures spectacular external views over the Liverpool skyline.
Our interior design solution uses natural materials, textures and finishes wherever possible. All furniture is responsibly sourced to ensure that air quality is kept to a high standard, as part of the WELL Standard principles.
The use of biophilic design extends into the colour palette and RCP’s plans for growth, which is represented by a tree. Earthier colours flow throughout the lower floors, merging into greener, leafier colours and patterns and blues on the upper floors. All working harmoniously with the timber curtain wall and timber floor.Learn more about our architecture and design response for The Spine here.
